You’ll find it on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and you can hear it on Apple Music, Spotify and Youtube. By pre-ordering you’ll also be able download the new song Cry Cry immediately! Pre-order the new album The Narrows Of course you’re always most welcome to head over to the Yeproc store online, where the CD, vinyl LP and download are all available for Pre-order. There’s also a cool t-shirt so make sure to take advantage of the great bundles Yep Roc is offering such as autographed copies. I spent this week personalizing a few boxes of LPs and CDs. I also had the pleasure of hearing the vinyl recently and it’s sounding warm and welcoming to my ears. So glad we’re doing vinyl on this one!
Rolling Stone’s 35 Most Anticipated Country Albums of 2016 was just published. I’m honored to see that my upcoming album, The Narrows made the list! It’s an impressive bunch of company to say the least – with Sturgill Simpson, Lucinda Williams, Buddy Miller & Friends, Hank Williams Jr. and Shooter Jennings topping it off.
One of the songs “Cry Cry” has been enjoying lots of spins on Spotify and other platforms around the world. My wife and I took a drive out to the Tennessee woods recently and shot some footage to accompany a lyric video for “Cry Cry.” The Trail Of Tears, which inspired the song, wound it’s tragic course through Tennessee – not far from Nashville. I welcome you to visit my youtube channel and to check the video out. There will be other lyric videos uploaded in the days ahead.
I’ll be celebrating the release of The Narrows with Ana Lee at Nashville’s Lightning 100, including a broadcast performance live from Soulshine Pizza. Come join us Friday, March 18 from 5pm-8pm for Lightning 100 “Friday Afternoon Live” Series from the Osmosis Rooftop Patio! Live Broadcast/Ticket Giveaways/Games/and more starts at 5pm “Artist of the Week” showcase starts at 7pm.
MORE TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED !!! Hot on the heels of my recent and wildly fun tour with Steve Poltz, I’m gearing up a big string of shows. April 1 will find me at the legendary music store and venue McCabes in Santa Monica, CA. Come April 18th I’ll kick off my European Tour in Italy, followed by performances in Austria, Netherlands, Germany, France, Denmark, England and Ireland.
Fans of TV’s The Gilmore Girls will undoubtedly have heard that the beloved show is going back into production! I’m thrilled to share that I will indeed be returning for these special episodes. I recently spoke to Annie Zaleski at Salon.com about reprising my role as one of Stars Hollow’s Town Troubadour. Check out the interview! Click!
Touring so much, over the last year, has given me a chance to introduce a lot of new songs. If you made it out to the show, then there’s a good chance you heard me sing Cry Cry, Loaded Gun, Smoke And Sparks and other yet to be released songs. The thirteen song album was recorded in Nashville, where I now call home. As I’ve hinted in previous months, The Narrows is partly acoustic and partly electric, all of it featuring the raw intensity of a trio. Much of what you hear is live on the floor, bleed n’ all. Some of it simmers, some of it thunders. I feel it’s a potent brew of my most natural inclinations. The title comes from a lyric in one of the songs. Moccasin Creek features a line about going “Down to the Narrows, where the water picks up…” It’s that place in the river where the current is treacherous. There are times in life like that – when things intensify and I found the title to be an apt one.
Finally, I want to say how great it was to see everyone who turned up for my shows with Steve Poltz and to Steve himself. We both began this year at 30A Songwriters Festival down near Panama City Florida, one of the best gatherings of music in the world. Thanks to Russel Carter and the gang at 30A for such a good experience! About as Steve and I left the Sunny State of Florida we were trudging through the snow in Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri – whew. And yet, so many of you made it out despite the elements and we’re very grateful. Steve and I had such a good time that we’re planning some more shows together out on the West Coast. Keep your eyes peeled and of course sign up to my mailing list for the latest updates.
This year marked my first visit to Folk Alliance in Kansas City, Missouri. I was stunned by all the great music I heard out there, bands like Darlingside who were new discoveries for me. It was also a chance to reconnect with old friends like Glen Phillips. Writer Mark Kemp, who attended my showcase, took this photo and covered the story for the publication, Acoustic Guitar.
Don’t forget to download your free copy of my new Noisetrade sampler, “Gather Up.” It’s an introduction to my soon to be released album, “The Narrows” featuring new song (Smoke And Sparks). It also contains some earlier releases. including Ladies’ Love Oracle (Heavenly), Little Moon (Buried Treasure and Nightbirds), Walking In The Green Corn (Great Horned Owl and Bound To This World.)
