Melbourne Herald Sun review 4/25:
MOBILIZE
"For a while, Grant Lee Buffalo looked sure to beat the crowded field of indie-rock also
rans. Their folk rock roots and detached sense of mystery suggested a lucrative
mid-point between U2 and REM, emphasized by the endorsement of Michael Stipe.
It didn't happen, but frontman Grant-Lee Phillips's solo debut is his best work in years,
if not ever. The mood is as sweepingly evocative and the singing as warmly intimate
as always, but the songwriting displays a consistent confidence and focus that was
missing on later Grant Lee Buffalo albums."
